Project Description
1660 Lincoln’s lobby renovation mixes traditional, formal symmetry with contemporary updates and innovative lighting solutions. Quarter-cut wood panels complement the existing granite floor. Vibrant and colorful artwork, painted by Jim Beckner and commissioned specifically for the project, breaks up the rhythm of the wood paneling and adds color. The large painting, positioned as the focal point between the two elevator lobbies, depicts 1660 Lincoln in the context of Civic Center Park with the State Capitol building in the foreground among the neighboring buildings of Denver’s skyline. The small painting depicting Central Presbyterian Church pays homage to the view from upper floors of the tower. Curved metal ceiling panels reflect light from concealed fluorescent fixtures adding the illusion of more height to the space.
